Special Circumstances: Check the special circumstances section on the State Department’s website to figure out whether you need any other documents or not. For example, if you have a kid under 16 years old, there will be additional forms and materials required.

Photocopies: All the documents must be single-sided, black and white photocopies.

Picture of Yourself: When you apply at the Alabama Passport Acceptance Facility, you should bring a photo according to the guidelines of the passport. Do not just bring a selfie; it does not work.

Look for a place where you can take your photo. Most pharmacies and some convenient shores off this service. The picture has guidelines. Your eyes must be open, you should not wear glasses or any head covering, wear regular clothing, and your whole head must appear. The photo you use must be current.

Application Processing Options

The post office and the other facilities offer two options to process the application. The choices are regular and expedited processing. With regular, it takes 7-10 weeks and cost the lower of both. Expedited is faster. You will pay an extra fee but will have it in 3-5 weeks. However, you must show your travel itinerary, proving you will travel sooner than two weeks.
