You should apply for a Minnesota passport on whether or not you are traveling internationally. The applicant must be present when applying. If applying for a minor’s passport, you will need a consent form from both parents/guardians. A parent with sole custody must give the original court order.

You can generally obtain your passport photo at the Acceptance Facility, but they can also be taken at a local drug store like CVS or Walgreens. Passport photos must be 2×2 and have a white background. 

Allow 7-10 weeks for processing and receipt of your new passport. If you need your passport a bit sooner, you can select to pay an additional $60 expediting fee. If you choose this option, your passport will generally come within 3-5 weeks.
